The West African Library Association (WALA) is to Be Revived

Abstract

The paper provides a context for the revival talks held in Accra, Ghana to resuscitate the West African Library Association (WALA). It traces the formation of the Associ ation to the Ibadan Seminar of 1953, examines its membership and some of the problems that contributed to its untimely breakup in 1962 . Some of its achievements are also examined. The modalities for resuscitating WALA are presented, as are WALA's future objectives. Important among thcse is the aim of making WALA a truly West African Association by opening its membership to library and information associations as well as institutions in all countries of the sub region .
